Meet The Team

Lynsey Welsh

Lynsey is an experienced solicitor who is also a member of the children panel. She undertakes a lot of her own advocacy and represents parents, children and young people regularly in care proceedings. Lynsey was also a finalist in the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards 2025. Lynsey is always patient in her approach with her clients and will ensure that they understand the process and what is happening fully. Lynsey regularly represents parents with learning difficulties and/or mental health issues, including when the Official Solicitor has been appointed. Lynsey has dealt with several cases involving fractures in young babies, baby shaking cases and where non-accidental injury has been alleged. she has also represented several young parents who are incredibly vulnerable, as well as parents who have drug and alcohol issues. Lynsey also represents children where the concerns relate to gang affiliation, grooming and who are considered to be beyond parental approach. Lynsey appreciates how difficult these proceedings are for anyone involved and is compassionate in her approach. She will be available to provide support and advice when needed and is committed to providing an excellent, professional and friendly service to all of her clients.

Foram Depala

Foram Depala is a Trainee Solicitor with a strong focus on child care law. Foram has worked with Lynsey since 2021 and has gained extensive experience in public law, including in PLO and care proceedings previously as a paralegal and now as a trainee solicitor. She provides clear and practical advice to prospective Special Guardians regarding the making of Special Guardianship Orders (SGO's). Foram also undertakes legal aid private law cases including the enforcement of Orders and addressing breaches of Child Arrangement Orders, and has experience in applications for Non-Molestation Orders. Foram's strength is her ability to assist and support families ensuring they receive clear, compassionate and practical guidance. Foram is working towards qualifying as a Solicitor later this year.

Foram also speaks Gujarati and Hindi allowing her to assist a wider range of clients and ensure they fully understand the proceedings they are involved in as well as the advice provided.

Sarah Bowen - PA

Sarah has worked in the legal sector for 30 years. She started her career in family law before moving to Reinsurance and International Risk. Sarah returned to family law and the childcare team in 2018 and is now the PA to Lynsey Welsh. Sarah is known for her attention to detail and quick response to any queries raised.

  • Dedicated support throughout your matter –There are no silly questions and you will be reassured and comfortable enough to ask any questions relating to your matter.
  • Legal Representation – Your solicitor will represent you at any Court hearings or will arrange an experienced barrister where appropriate.
  • Support – This is not a 9am to 5pm firm. Support where appropriate will be available outside of normal working hours.

Who We Can Represent

We are able to represent parents and Guardians who need legal assistance relating to family matters concerning their children.

  • Parents – who need advice about contact or lives with orders or who have received a letter from social services regarding PLO Proceedings or care proceedings.
  • Grandparents – Seeking to be assessed as Special Guardian's for their grandchildren or seeking to challenge a negative initial viability assessment or a negative Special Guardianship Assessment.
  • Other family members – Seeking to be assessed as Special Guardian's for their family member or seeking to challenge a negative initial viability assessment or a negative Special Guardianship Assessment.
  • Intervenors – Any family members who have been invited to participate in care proceedings as an intervenor.
